HIX AI and Koala AI used to be compared as AI article writers. That is still true of Koala, but HIX AI has changed. Its pricing page now presents it as an AI agent workspace for research, slides, data analysis, images, video and writing, with access to many top models. Koala has gone the other way and become more focused on SEO content and growth. I compared both from their own pricing pages on 27 October 2026. HIX showed prices in pounds for my UK visit.
HIX AI overview
HIX AI’s plans are built around an AI agent workspace with automated agentic workflows, multi-agent coordination, reusable AI skills and scheduled tasks. It includes an AI video agent, an AI image agent with a canvas, a deep research agent with real-time internet access, an AI slides agent, AI data analysis and an AI writer agent for long articles and other content types. The Max plan lists unlimited access to top chat models (it names GPT-6.1 Sol, Claude Opus 5.5 and Gemini 4 Argon) plus image models such as Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5 and video models such as Veo 3.1 and Seedance 2.5.
Koala AI overview
Koala describes itself as growth on autopilot. One subscription covers KoalaWriter for articles, KoalaImages, internal links (KoalaLinks), a Brand DNA agent that acts as an AI growth strategist, and an MCP server that lets an AI assistant use 62 SEO tools (keyword, competitor, backlink and SERP research) on your plan’s credits. Starter includes real-time factual data, AI-powered SEO optimization, AI images and YouTube embeds, live Amazon data for affiliate articles, bulk writing mode, publishing to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost, and API access. Professional adds a Search Console and Analytics dashboard, an article editor with AI chat edits and an SEO score, KoalaMagnets and Deep Research. Koala says it is trusted by over 20,000 paid creators.
Writing and draft feature comparison
For SEO articles, Koala is the more complete tool. It builds articles around search intent, adds real-time data and internal links, scores the article for SEO and publishes it. Its Amazon data feature is aimed squarely at affiliate sites, and bulk mode suits people producing many articles at once.
HIX AI’s writer agent handles long articles and other content types in markdown or rich text, and its research agent can gather real-time information first. But its pricing page does not list SEO scoring, publishing integrations or internal linking, so you would need other tools for that side of the workflow.
Language, tone and brand voice
Koala’s Brand DNA feature is designed to keep articles in your brand’s tone and style, with an agent you can message for strategy and content ideas (25 messages a month on Starter, no cap on Boost). HIX AI’s reusable AI skills let you save prompts and workflows for repeated tasks such as reports and proposals, which can do a similar job for tone if you set them up carefully. Neither page sets out a full language list, so check support for your language before you pay.
Pricing compared
| Tier | HIX AI (UK prices) | Koala AI |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 20 credits | One-time 5,000 words, 25 credits |
| Entry | Pro £8/month yearly (£96 a year) or £15 monthly: 1,500 credits | Starter $25/month: 45,000 words, 500 credits |
| Middle | Max £12/month yearly (£144 a year) or £23 monthly: 2,500 credits, unlimited top models | Professional $49/month: 100,000 words, 1,000 credits |
| Upper | None | Boost $99/month: 250,000 words, content calendar autopilot |
| Volume | None | Growth $179 up to Scale III $2,000 a month |
HIX AI was showing a sale with up to 48% off yearly plans when I checked, so its normal price may be higher. Koala saves 20% on annual billing. On price alone HIX is far cheaper, but the two are not really doing the same job: Koala’s price covers word allowances, SEO data and publishing for content sites.
Team and business use
For a business with several people producing content, the plans scale differently. Koala’s higher volume plans (Growth at $179 a month and up) add more words, more credits and more Brand DNA brands, so an agency can keep separate brand voices for each client across many sites, and KoalaLinks covers internal linking for up to 50 sites on Professional. HIX AI’s plans are priced per user and its pricing page does not list team seats or shared workspaces, so it is better suited to individual users than to a content team.
Support also differs. HIX AI lists email support, priority support on paid plans and a community. Koala’s pricing page lists its features in detail but does not set out support levels by plan.
Human review still matters
Whichever tool you choose, plan for a human review of every article. Check facts and figures (especially any real-time data pulled into the text), make sure the structure answers what a searcher actually wants, and edit the tone so it reads like your business rather than a generic AI engine. Search engines and readers both reward pages that add something new, and an unedited AI draft rarely does. This is also the step that catches the occasional confident mistake.
Limits and drawbacks
- HIX AI’s pricing page does not list SEO scoring, CMS publishing or an API.
- HIX AI’s sale pricing makes it hard to know the long-term price.
- Koala’s free allowance is one-time, not monthly.
- Koala’s useful extras (editor with SEO score, internal linking, Search Console data) start on the $49 Professional plan.
Review verdict, which tool should you pick?
I would pick Koala AI if you run a blog, affiliate site or SEO agency and want search-focused articles drafted, optimised and published with as little manual work as possible. Professional is the plan most content sites will want.
I would pick HIX AI if you want a cheap all-round AI workspace for research, slides, data analysis, images, video and general writing, and SEO publishing is not your main job. Either way, edit the output before it goes live; AI drafts still need a human check for accuracy and tone.
Alternatives if neither is a match
- Frase: an agent-led SEO content system with publishing and page audits.
- NeuronWriter: a cheaper content optimization editor.
- Rytr: a low-cost general AI writer.
