Phrasly and Rephrasy are AI humanizer tools: you paste in a draft written with ChatGPT or another AI model and they rewrite it so it reads as human writing, with an AI detector to check the result. They are priced and packaged quite differently. This review is based on both companies’ own websites and pricing, checked on 27 October 2026. I have not run either tool against an AI detection service, so any pass rates mentioned are the vendors’ own claims.
A note on academic use
Both tools market heavily to students. It is worth saying plainly that submitting AI-written work as your own breaks most universities’ academic integrity rules, whatever a detector says. Detectors and humanizers also change constantly, and detectors can flag genuine human writing too. These tools are easier to justify for tidying your own drafts, or for business and SEO writing where AI help is allowed.
Phrasly feature list
- AI humanizer with what Phrasly calls Advanced AI Detection Bypass and its Phrasly Ultra model.
- Unlimited humanizations on the paid plan, up to 5,000 words per process.
- A content generator (up to 50,000 words a month) that searches Google and Bing for citations in real time, limited to 25 generations a month.
- A plagiarism checker with 100,000 words a month.
- An API and enterprise plans for businesses.
Phrasly says it has built its own models, trained on over a million pages of human writing and run in-house in the US, rather than reselling another company’s AI. It says this means no third-party AI touches your text. It also claims more than 5,000,000 students and writers use its tools.
Rephrasy feature list
- AI humanizer with several models (its homepage mentions Superstealth and v4) for different styles.
- A writing style feature that clones your own style, with 1 to 10 custom styles by plan.
- A free AI detector on its homepage, plus a detector API on the Professional plan.
- A free re-humanize option if the first result doesn’t pass.
- A Chrome extension that works in Google Docs, Gmail and LinkedIn.
- Support for 50+ languages and a Humanizer API on Business and Professional.
Rephrasy says it guarantees 100% pass rates on all major AI detectors and has more than 200,000 users. Those are its own claims.
The key difference in text output and tools
Phrasly bundles more tools into one plan: humanizer, detection bypass, a content generator and a plagiarism checker. Rephrasy focuses on the humanizer itself, with more control over tone and style through custom writing styles, and more ways to use it inside the browser. If you want one tool to draft and humanize an essay structure from scratch, Phrasly’s content generator is the difference. If you already write your own drafts and want them to match your own voice, Rephrasy’s style cloning is closer to that job.
Pricing and API options
| Option | Phrasly | Rephrasy |
|---|---|---|
| Try it | Free to start; 3 Day Access for $2 (1,000 humanization words during trial) | Free homepage tool; Quick Pass $14.99 for 24 hours of unlimited use |
| Main plan | Unlimited: $10.99 a month billed yearly | Growth $99/year: 100 humanizations a month up to 2,000 words each |
| Higher plans | Enterprise and API by contact | Business $120/year (200 a month, API); Professional $220/year (400 a month) |
| Lifetime | None | $199, presented as a limited time offer |
Phrasly’s pricing page showed the yearly price (a 45% saving on monthly), and Rephrasy’s showed yearly prices by default (a saving of up to 60%). On those published prices, Phrasly’s Unlimited plan at about $132 a year is a little more than Rephrasy Growth at $99, but Phrasly has no monthly cap on humanizations and adds a content generator and plagiarism checker. Rephrasy’s lifetime deal is unusual. As with any lifetime deal, it only pays off if the company keeps running and improving the product.
Phrasly’s 3 day trial converts to a paid plan if you don’t cancel, so set a reminder if you only want the trial.
AI detection guarantees and how to test them
Phrasly offers a money-back guarantee if its output does not score more human than any other AI humanizer, measured on Pangram, GPTZero, Copyleaks and Originality.ai, with conditions in its FAQ (such as using 500+ words of the same text). Rephrasy offers a free re-humanize and claims 100% pass rates. Neither publishes an independent test I could check.
My advice is to run your own test: take a few typical drafts, humanize each on both tools, and check the output in the detector that matters to you. Then read each sentence. A humanizer that changes facts or loses the structure of your argument is a bad trade for a lower AI score.
How each one handles AI writing patterns
Most AI-generated text has recognisable patterns: predictable word choices, sentences of similar length, stock transitions and a flat, even tone. Rephrasy describes its humanizer in exactly those terms, saying it spots the patterns and rewrites with varied sentences and a more natural flow while keeping facts, figures and intent. Its custom writing styles go a step further by trying to match your own writing rather than a generic human style.
Phrasly’s explanation focuses on its models rather than method. It says they are trained on real human writing and benchmarked before each release, and it pitches the result as natural writing that detectors score as human.
In practice, the more of your own writing a draft contains, the less any humanizer needs to change. If you start from an AI draft, add your own examples, opinions and structure first, then use a humanizer for the final pass. That tends to give better text than relying on the tool alone, and it is the only approach I would consider for academic writing where AI help is permitted.
Pro and con review of each tool
Phrasly
- Pro: unlimited humanizing on one low yearly price.
- Pro: content generator with citations and a plagiarism checker included.
- Con: the trial rolls into a paid plan if you don’t cancel.
- Con: strong marketing claims, such as watermark-proof output, that I could not check.
Rephrasy
- Pro: custom writing styles and a Chrome extension for Google Docs and Gmail.
- Pro: flexible buying options, including a 24 hour pass and a lifetime deal.
- Con: monthly prices are not shown by default.
- Con: humanizations are capped per month on yearly plans.
Which AI humanizer tool should you pick?
I would pick Phrasly if you want one tool for drafting, humanizing and plagiarism checks and you will use it a lot. I would pick Rephrasy if you mostly humanize your own drafts, want the output to match your writing tone, or only need it occasionally (the 24 hour pass is useful for that).
