A strong fit for small businesses and accounting firms whose invoices arrive by email or sit in SaaS billing portals. Skip it if you mostly handle paper receipts, where a simple receipt app costs less.
Best for: Small businesses and accountants collecting emailed and portal invoices
Tailride is invoice and receipt automation software. It connects to your email inboxes, finds every invoice that arrives, extracts the data with AI, codes each line to an account and tax rate, and sends the result to your accounting software or cloud storage. For invoices that never reach your inbox (the ones you have to log in to Amazon, Meta Ads or AWS to download), it has a browser extension and a desktop app that collect them from supplier portals.
It is built for small and mid-sized businesses that are tired of hunting for invoices at month end, and for accounting firms that chase clients for paperwork. The company behind it is Tailride S.à r.l., based in Luxembourg, according to its Google Play listing. The vendor says it is used by more than 2,800 businesses in 108+ countries, including 475 accounting firms.
You connect Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or any IMAP inbox, and colleagues can connect theirs too. Tailride rescans connected inboxes every hour and picks up invoices whether they come as a PDF, an image, in the body of the email or behind a download link. When you first connect, you can run a retroactive scan for this month, this quarter, this year, all time or a custom date range, which is useful if you are behind on a tax filing. Invoices are stored by Tailride, so you can still access them after deleting the email.
The browser extension (Chrome, Edge and Firefox, with Safari listed as coming soon) opens supplier billing pages using your own logged-in browser session and pulls every invoice from a start date you choose. The vendor says it supports 100+ portals, including Amazon, AWS, Stripe, Meta, Google and Adobe, and you can teach it other portals with a guided builder. It does not store your portal passwords. The free desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux does the same job on a schedule in the background, keeping passwords on your own computer.
Paper receipts can be scanned with the Tailride mobile app or sent as a photo to a Telegram or WhatsApp bot. The Android app includes a document scanner with auto-crop, batch mode for a stack of receipts and an offline upload queue. It is new: the Play listing describes this as the first release and showed only a handful of downloads.
Each invoice line gets an account and tax code, and you can set custom rules. Exports go to QuickBooks, Xero, Microsoft Business Central, Odoo, sevDesk, Lexware Office, e-conomic, Sage, FreeAgent and Holded, plus DATEV, Google Drive, OneDrive and Google Sheets. Bank statement reconciliation matches transactions to invoices so you can see what is still missing. There are also webhooks, an API and an MCP connection for AI assistants listed in the product menu.
Accountants get a separate set of Practice plans and a master dashboard across all client accounts. Each client workspace collects invoices from that client's inboxes and portals every hour, codes them, and lands them in the firm's dashboard, so the firm is not chasing clients by email before deadlines. Clients do not need to install anything, although a firm can set up the desktop app on a client's computer so portal collection runs there on a schedule and the client's passwords stay on their own machine. Practice plans include unlimited client workspaces, unlimited team members and inboxes, the Email Routing add-on, all integrations and priority support, with annual invoice quotas from 5,000 to 80,000 a year. Soft overage at a flat per-invoice rate is available on request, so a busy month does not stop processing.
The vendor's suggested first week is simple. On day one you sign up with Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Apple or email, connect an inbox, invite colleagues to connect theirs and run a retroactive scan for the current quarter. By day three you add the browser extension for supplier portals, set up forwarding to your accounting software or Google Drive, and create custom rules for your company. After that the service runs in the background. The same account works on the web, the extension, the desktop app and the mobile app.
Tailride says it has passed a CASA Tier 2 security assessment for Google API access, follows Google's Limited Use rules, and publishes a GDPR data processing agreement. It primarily processes customer data in the EEA. Payments run through Stripe.
The pricing page showed prices in pounds sterling when it was checked, so the currency may follow your location. There is a free tier with up to 10 invoices a month, with no time limit. Paid plans are priced by invoice volume and connected inboxes, and every plan includes unlimited users. Annual billing saves 30%.

An Email Routing add-on (forward processed invoices to any address with rules) costs $20 a month or $160 a year. One-time credit bundles cover backlogs and never expire. Accounting firms get separate Practice plans from £85 a month, with unlimited client workspaces and inboxes. The homepage FAQ offers a full refund within 3 days of payment, while the accountants page mentions a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on Practice plans.
Tailride does one job well on paper: getting every invoice out of inboxes and supplier portals and into your accounting software without forwarding emails or downloading PDFs. The hourly inbox scan, the retroactive scan and the portal extension cover the places invoices usually hide, and the free tier is enough to see whether it finds yours. I would pick it if most of your invoices arrive by email or sit in SaaS billing portals. If you mainly photograph paper receipts, the vendor itself says a simple receipt app will do and may be cheaper.
There is a free tier that processes up to 10 invoices a month with no time limit. Paid plans add higher invoice volumes and more connected inboxes.
