Our verdict

A good fit for agencies, freelancers and marketing teams that collect feedback on many file types from clients. Skip it if you only need bug reports from one live website.

Best for: Agencies and freelancers collecting client feedback and approvals

What we like

  • Handles websites, video, audio, PDFs, slides, 3D and CAD files in one workflow.
  • Guest reviewers comment and approve without creating an account.
  • Built-in and custom AI reviewers check accessibility, copy and brand rules.
  • Integrates with Jira, ClickUp, Asana, Slack and other task tools.
  • White-label portal with your own domain on the Agency plan.

Think twice if

  • Free plan is limited to 2 projects and lacks approvals and integrations.
  • Zapier, Make and webhooks start on Team, and the API only on Agency.
  • Little independent review volume outside the vendor's own site.

What BugSmash is and who it is for

BugSmash is a visual feedback and approval tool. You upload a file or paste a website link, share a review link, and clients or teammates click anywhere on the work to leave a comment pinned to that exact spot. When the work is right, the client approves it with one click. The vendor's pitch is "no logins, no email threads, no screenshot ping-pong", and guest reviewers do not need an account.

It is aimed at digital agencies, freelancers, marketing teams, product teams and development and QA teams who spend too long collecting feedback by email and screenshot. The Chrome Web Store lists the developer as Hussain Sakriwala, with an address in Mumbai, India. The vendor says it is used by 1,250+ agencies and companies in 100+ countries.

How a BugSmash review link works

The vendor describes the process in three steps. First you upload a file or add a website and share the review link, which is the whole handoff: one link in an email or Slack message that opens in the client's browser. Second, the client clicks anywhere on the work and types a comment, with no signup and no install. Third, they approve right on the work, and the project moves from feedback to finished. If a change is needed, you upload a new version and reviewers can compare it with the previous one.

The same tool works in two directions. You can share your own feedback with an internal team (a designer marking up a developer's build, for example), or collect feedback and approval from clients. Comments can be public or private, so your team can discuss an issue without the client seeing it.

Key BugSmash features

Review any file type, from website to PDF and video

BugSmash supports a wide range of project types: live websites, HTML, videos, audio, images, PDFs, slide decks (PPT), docs, email campaigns, 3D models (GLB and GLTF), CAD files and mobile apps. Every format sits in one inbox with one approval workflow, which is the main reason to pick it over a tool that only handles websites or only handles video. Versioning and version comparison (the free plan includes pixel-level comparison) let reviewers see what changed between rounds.

Client comments, annotation, version history and approval workflow

Reviewers comment without signing up, attach files to comments, and use annotation and marker tools. Comments can be tagged, prioritized, assigned to team members, sorted and filtered. Paid plans add private comments (internal notes clients cannot see), comment pausing, file status and approval, comment export, restricted downloads, password-protected links, due dates with automatic reminders, and a custom welcome note or video for each project. The reviewer interface can be set to the client's own language, with 20+ languages listed.

Website feedback widget, embeds and the browser extension

For live sites there is a small script you add to the page, so visitors can report bugs and ideas from the page itself. The vendor says each submission arrives with a screenshot plus browser, OS and screen-size details. You can also embed a live review in Notion, Confluence or a client portal with an iframe. The Chrome extension captures a screenshot of any page in one click so you can annotate and share it; it had 487 users and 6 ratings (all 5 stars) when checked.

AI design review and MCP

BugSmash has two kinds of AI review. Built-in reviewers run on upload and check accessibility (low contrast, small tap targets, missing alt text), UI and UX issues, copy and spelling, and broken links. Custom AI reviewers are trained on each client's rules, for example a branding reviewer that checks logo, palette and typography against a brand book, or a compliance reviewer that looks for required disclaimers. AI reviews are metered by plan. There is also an MCP server so Claude, Cursor, Windsurf or ChatGPT can read open comments, make the fix and push a new version back for approval, and comments can be exported for AI agents as CSV, PDF, Markdown or JSON.

Integration options and brand control

Comments can become tasks in Slack, Jira, ClickUp, Asana, Monday, Trello, Linear, Notion and Airtable, with Zapier, Make, n8n and webhooks on the higher plans. The Team plan adds custom branding (subdomain, name and logo), and the Agency plan adds a full white-label suite with your own CNAME domain and SMTP, so clients never see the BugSmash name.

BugSmash pricing

Prices are in USD. Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial, and yearly billing saves 25%.

PlanMonthlyYearly (per month)Main limits
Free$0$02 projects, 2 users, 5 GB storage, 100 MB per file, 1 AI review
Starter$25$1930 active projects, 2 users, 50 GB, 250 MB per file, 20 AI reviews a month, 2 custom AI reviewers
Team$69$49Unlimited projects, 10 users, 300 GB, 1 GB per file, 100 AI reviews a month, folders, custom branding
Agency$129$9925 users, 1 TB, 2 GB per file, unlimited AI reviews, white label, API access

Every plan includes unlimited guest reviewers and unlimited comments. An Enterprise plan adds unlimited users, SSO and a dedicated account manager, with pricing on request. I did not see a lifetime plan on BugSmash's own site.

BugSmash limits and drawbacks

  • The free plan is a real trial rather than a working plan for an agency: 2 projects, no private sharing, no approval status and no integrations.
  • Seat counts are fixed per plan. Moving from 2 users to anything more means jumping from Starter to Team.
  • Zapier, Make, n8n and webhooks start on Team, and the API only comes with Agency.
  • Workspace analytics is still marked "coming soon" on the pricing page.
  • Most of the praise you will find is on the vendor's own site. Independent review volume is small (the Chrome extension has 6 ratings), so reliability claims such as the 99.99% uptime record are the vendor's own.

Alternatives

  • BugHerd is a long-standing website feedback and bug tracking tool with a visual task board.
  • Userback focuses on in-app and website feedback widgets for product and development teams.
  • Filestage is a review and approval tool for documents, videos and design files, aimed at marketing and compliance teams.

Which teams BugSmash suits

The vendor's own use cases give a fair idea of fit. Digital agencies present work, gather annotated feedback and get sign-off without exporting screenshots. Marketing teams route campaign assets, landing pages and ad creative through one approval flow per client. Development and QA teams turn vague bug reports into pinned issues with browser and device details attached. Freelancers get a professional, branded review flow, and the vendor says the free plan is enough to look bigger than you are.

Testimonials on the BugSmash homepage mostly come from people who build websites for clients and were tired of Word documents full of screenshots and long email chains. Several mention that non-technical clients picked it up quickly, and one mentions a support request on a Wix site that the team followed up on. Treat these as the vendor's chosen quotes, not an independent sample.

Verdict

BugSmash covers more file types than most feedback tools, lets clients comment and approve without an account, and adds AI proofing and an MCP server on top. The pricing is reasonable for a small agency on the yearly Team plan, and the free plan is enough to see whether clients will use it. I would pick it if you collect feedback on websites, designs and video for several clients and want it all in one branded place. If you only need bug reports from a live website, a narrower website feedback tool may be simpler.
