Our verdict

AiAssistWorks suits people who do repetitive AI work in Google Sheets (product data, categorizing, translating, SEO fields) and are happy to set up an API key to pay the model provider directly. Skip it if you want one bill with no setup, or if your team works in Excel rather than Google Workspace.

Best for: Google Sheets users running AI over thousands of rows

What we like

  • Fills, categorizes and translates whole columns in Google Sheets without GPT() formulas.
  • Works with 100+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter and Straico.
  • Low add-on fee because you pay the AI provider directly at its own rates.
  • Free Lite plan with 100 execution credits a month.

Think twice if

  • You need your own API key and a separate bill with an AI provider.
  • Total cost depends on the model and volume, so it is hard to predict upfront.
  • Prices differ between the pricing page, homepage and Marketplace listing.
  • Google Workspace only, so there is nothing for Excel or Word users.

What the AiAssistWorks tool is and which business it suits

AiAssistWorks is an AI add-on for Google Workspace. It runs inside Google's three office apps as a sidebar, and lets you describe a task in plain language (a business owner does not need to know any syntax) instead of writing formulas or copying in and out of ChatGPT, which is the manual work it aims to remove. Its main selling point is that you bring your own API key, so the add-on fee stays small and you pay the AI provider directly for the model you choose.

The vendor lists marketers, ecommerce businesses, SEO writers, social media teams, analysts and educators as the main users. In practice, the strongest fit is anyone who repeats the same AI task over many rows in a spreadsheet: writing product descriptions, sorting data into categories, translating, cleaning text or pulling fields out of messy data. On the Marketplace the listing showed a 4.9 average from 42 reviews and 77K+ installs, and it was last updated on October 21, 2026.

Key features to generate content in a sheet, doc or slide deck

Bulk filling a sheet

This is the core of the tool and the part of the workflow that saves the most hours. You select a range, describe what you want (for example "categorize each product" or "write a meta description from the title"), and the AI fills the column, across every cell. There is no need for an AI() formula in every row. The vendor says a batch processing mode can fill 100K+ rows without hitting rate limits, though that mode only works with four providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Groq). The homepage also says batching can cut API costs by about 50%, which is the vendor's claim rather than something I can confirm.

Smart Command for formulas, charts and a pivot table

Smart Command handles the sheet itself rather than the content. You type an instruction and it creates and applies the right calculation, formats cells, sets data validation, builds a table, or generates a chart or pivot table. For people who don't enjoy that side of spreadsheets, this is probably the most practical feature day to day, and unlike formula-based add-ons nothing is left behind to recalculate later.

Docs and Slides

In Docs you can draft, rewrite, summarize, translate and proofread, for example a blog post or a video script. In Slides you describe a topic and it builds the content for a presentation. These are useful but similar to what other AI tools offer, so I would not choose AiAssistWorks for those alone.

Model choice, vision and images

The add-on can integrate with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Straico, OpenRouter, Groq, Fal.ai and Runware, which covers GPT, Claude, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Qwen and other models (the vendor says 100+). It can read images (image to text) and create images with DALL-E, Imagen, Flux and others in multiple apps. The listing says your API key stays in your own account and is not stored on the vendor's servers.

AiAssistWorks pricing, subscription and lifetime options

There are two costs: the AiAssistWorks subscription and your AI provider's usage. The pricing FAQ gives OpenAI's 4o-mini model as an example at $0.6 per million tokens, and recommends starting with lightweight models.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Free$0100 execution credits a month (the Lite plan)
Plus, monthly$6 a monthUnlimited executions with your API key, bulk fill, document and presentation creation, all providers
Plus, yearly$4 a month, billed yearlyEverything in monthly plus priority access to new features

The FAQ explains that one cell filled in a sheet uses 1 credit and other features use 2 to 5 credits per run, so the free allowance suits light use. When I checked, the pricing page also showed a 25% discount code that took the monthly plan to $4.50 and the yearly plan to $3 a month. The Marketplace listing says Plus starts at $5 a month, so the numbers don't all match; go by the checkout price. Refunds are offered within 30 days on the yearly plan and within 7 days on the monthly plan, and payments go through Paddle. The aiassistworks.com pricing page showed no lifetime plan, so expect a subscription rather than a lifetime license.

What Google Workspace users say about support and value

Most Marketplace reviews are short and positive, with comments like "huge time saver". The negative one I found, from October 2024, called the add-on "costly and complex". The vendor replied that you only pay for AI usage plus a small monthly fee. Both points are fair: the add-on itself is cheap, but setting up a key with an AI provider is an extra step that some users will find confusing. Help articles are on a separate support site.

Limits and drawbacks

  • You need an account and an API key with an AI provider, and you manage that bill separately.
  • Your total cost depends on the model and the number of rows. Heavy use of an advanced model can cost far more than the add-on.
  • Unlimited does not mean no limits. The FAQ says your AI provider's limits and Google Sheets' limits still apply.
  • The large batch mode only works with four providers.
  • It only works in Google Workspace. Teams on Microsoft 365 will need a different tool.

Alternatives

  • Gemini in Google Workspace: Google's own artificial intelligence built into its own products, with no API key to manage, but no choice of model provider.
  • GPT for Work: another Workspace add-on for running AI over rows.
  • ChatGPT or Claude directly: fine for one-off tasks, but slow for anything that needs pasting into hundreds of rows.

Verdict on AiAssistWorks for Google Sheets data work

AiAssistWorks is a practical, low-cost way to run AI over a sheet at scale, with help across the other apps as a bonus. The bring-your-own-key model keeps the fee small and gives you real control over which model you use, but it also adds setup and a second bill. I would pick it if you regularly process hundreds or thousands of rows of product, SEO or survey data in Google Sheets and don't mind a few minutes of API key setup.

Questions people ask

Is AiAssistWorks free?

Yes, the Lite plan is free with 100 execution credits a month, where one filled cell uses one credit. Unlimited executions need the Plus plan, and in both cases you pay your AI provider for model usage.

Do I need an API key to use AiAssistWorks?

Yes. You sign up with an AI provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter or Straico, add credit and paste the key into the add-on. The vendor suggests Straico or OpenRouter if you are new.

Does AiAssistWorks have a lifetime deal?

The aiassistworks.com pricing page only showed monthly and yearly Plus plans when I checked, so I would not plan around a lifetime option.

Which Google apps does AiAssistWorks work with?

It works in Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Slides, and opens from the right sidebar after you install it from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
